Royersford, May 16, 2019 – Senator Katie Muth (D-Berks, Chester, Montgomery) has announced that nearly $60,000 in School Breakfast Initiative Grants have been awarded to Coatesville, Owen J. Roberts, Perkiomen Valley and Pottsgrove schools.

“I am grateful for the approval of this funding that will ensure every student in these schools is able to eat a full breakfast before classes,” said Muth. “No child’s education should be hindered by hunger.”

Each school awarded through the Wolf Administration’s School Breakfast Initiative program will receive up to $5,000 in funding.

The initiative assists schools in implementing and expanding “grab-and-go” or breakfast in the classroom programs for students. The programs instituted with the provided funding will be available to all students.

“Access to healthy and nutritious meals helps improve student performance in the classroom,” said Muth.

“While food security issues sadly effect many children in our community, it is great to see the Wolf Administration addressing this issue and supporting local school efforts to help students succeed.”
