Energy in the political movement means we are now in a much better place to influence political leaders than in previous years, especially in the Pennsylvania General Assembly, and We The People is proud to take this opportunity to fight for a more equitable state. In addition to the new members and more diverse representation, there is new energy in both the House and Senate Democratic caucuses ready to take bold stances on pro-active change!

On Jueves, Abril 18th, we’re coming together with Make the Road PA, Indivisible Berks, the NAACP Reading Branch, Senator Katie Muth, Senator Schwank, and the office of Rep Mark Rozzi for a town hall event!

You’ll:

  • Learn about the current state of Harrisburg and what has led to our chronic underinvestment and lack of recurring revenue,
  • Dive into key legislative issues where we can make movement in 2019 and beyond,
  • Have an opportunity to ask questions of your local legislators, and
  • Lock in plans and dates for talking to legislators, days of action, advocacy calls, and writing letters.

We’ll be joined by policy experts and local elected officials, and we’ll leave with a plan for how all of us, across diverse groups and geographies, will collaborate to make the change that #WeThePeoplePA truly want and deserve.

This location is wheelchair accessible.
Light fare will be provided, including vegetarian options!

While it’s important to do work on the federal level, activism on the state level is also key to a better life for all of us and to protecting our neighbors from harmful policies—AND, we have more influence over what happens in Harrisburg. With a conservative majority still in power (minus the super majority in the Senate), we must be strategic in how we advocate for the issues that matter to us the most.

We knocked on doors, made phone calls, and wrote postcards—now it’s time to come back together, move the needle forward, and change the narrative in Harrisburg. Together, we can push for wins on fairer working conditions; better wages, education, and health care; fair taxation; increased recurring revenue; and more. 2019 is going to be a big year, and a year where we take back the narrative and tell our representatives what WE THE PEOPLE want—we can’t wait to work alongside you!

LET’S GET TO WORK!

About We The People – Pennsylvania:
The We The People campaign was designed to change politics in Pennsylvania by presenting an alternative to the right-wing, corporate-sponsored narrative that says prosperity is a product of cutting taxes for the rich and spending for everyone else. We believe that broadly shared prosperity requires increasing the productivity of our workforce and raising living standards so that people can buy more from our businesses. That means raising wages and strengthening the safety net; investing in education, infrastructure, and environmental protection; and securing our democracy so that government is responsive to the people, not the rich and corporations.
