ROYERSFORD, Agosto 19, 2024: State Sen. Katie Muth (D-Chester/Montgomery/Berks) today announced that two projects in Senate District 44 have received $3.9 million in PennDOT Multimodal Transportation funds.

In Montgomery County, Upper Providence Township received $3 million for a project that includes the construction of a roundabout and a bridge replacement. In Chester County, Phoenixville Borough received $900,000 for street improvements. The two projects were part of a $51 million investment in 66 transportation projects across 32 counties in Pennsylvania.

“This funding will help address the traffic flow and safety of two of the most travelled and congested areas in this part of Senate District 44,” Muth said. “These projects will also help improve the travel and response time for our emergency responders. I commend both Upper Providence Township and Phoenixville Borough officials and staff for their hard work to secure this critical state funding.”

Upper Providence Township received $3 million for the construction of a roundabout and a bridge replacement at Dreibelbis Road, Black Rock Road (Route 113), and Second Avenue.

Phoenixville Borough received $900,000 for improvements to Bridge Street and Starr Street. The project will include extending Starr Street to the north to provide an additional exit for Ashland Street. The project will also improve SEPTA access.

Muth noted that PennDOT evaluated the applications and made selections based on such criteria as safety benefits, regional economic conditions, the technical and financial feasibility, job creation, energy efficiency, and operational sustainability. The projects across the state will be allocated towards highway, bridge, aviation, ports, and bike and pedestrian initiatives.
