ROYERSFORD, Septiembre 12, 2024: State Sen. Katie Muth (D-Chester/Montgomery/Berks) today announced that entities across Senate District 44 have been awarded more than $9.1 million in funding through the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency (PCCD).

“This funding will be incredibly impactful across SD44 by ensuring that organizations and initiatives that support victims and support survivors have the financial resources they need to serve our communities,” Muth said. “We must continue to prioritize victims services and continue funding initiatives that offer programming and resources that help all survivors have the opportunity to heal and rebuild their lives.”

The PCCD funding sources include grants from the Federal Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) funds; Federal Byrne Justice Grant (JAG) Funds; Local Law Enforcement Support Grant Funds; State Act 80 Funds; and Federal STOP Violence Against Women Act Funds.

The following initiatives were funded across Chester, Montgomery and Berks Counties:

Regional Programs:

Federal Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) funding: 

  • SeniorLAW Center received $1,454,913 for the Keeping Elder Victims S.A.F.E. program in Philadelphia, Bucks, Chester, Delaware and Montgomery Counties.
  • Legal Aid of Southeastern Pennsylvania received $535,140 for legal services for domestic abuse victims in Chester, Montgomery, Bucks and Delaware counties.
  • MidPenn Legal Services received $646,342 for their Legal Interventions for Victims Empowerment (LIVE) program in Berks County and other surrounding counties.
  • CASA, Youth Advocates received $401,572 for advocacy for child victims of abuse and neglect in Chester and Delaware Counties.
  • Children’s Crisis Treatment Center received $98,626 for clinical care coordination for child victims in Philadelphia and Montgomery Counties.

Chester County

Local Law Enforcement Support Grant Funds

  • West Vincent Township received $33,528 for the National Incident-Based Reporting System (NIBRS) pathfinder.
  • East Vincent Township received $6,500 in funding for NIBRS.

Federal Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) funding:

  • Domestic Violence Center of Chester County received $786,014 for continuing services for victims of domestic violence.
  • The Crime Victims’ Center of Chester County received $649,289 for their CVC Victims of Crime Act 2023-2025.

Montgomery County

Federal Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) funding:

  • The Lincoln Center for Family and Youth received $815,930 for their 2023 Non-Competitive Heather’s Hope renewal.
  • Victim Services Center of Montgomery County received $522,314 to support programming for sexual assault and other crimes.
  • The Women’s Center of Montgomery County received $452,754 for domestic violence comprehensive services.
  • Laurel House received $398,022 for their services to support those impacted by domestic violence.
  • Child Advocacy Center of Montgomery County received $188,234 for a coordinated response to child abuse.

Federal Byrne Justice Grant (JAG) Funds

  • Family Services of Montgomery County received $250,000 for the Promoting Successful Reentry: Thinking for a Change program.
  • The Lincoln Center for Family and Youth received $169,162 for trauma support for justice practitioners.

State Act 80 Funds

  • Montgomery County received $155,868 for the expansion of the Vivitrol program at Montgomery County Correctional Facility. 

Berks County 

Federal Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) funding:

  • SAFE Berks received $1,136,592 for their 2023-2025 VOCA funding.
  • Berks County Commissioners received $131,862 to fund programming to enhance services to Berks County victims.
  • CASA of Berks County received $45,183 for continuation of child victim advocacy services.
  • The Community Justice Project received $42,928 for immigration legal services for victims.

Federal Byrne Justice Grant (JAG) Funds

  • ConnectionsWork received $135,773 for reentry coalition coordination.

Federal STOP Violence Against Women Act Funds

  • SAFE Berks received $125,000 for the Berks County STOP Team.
