ROYERSFORD, December 19, 2024: State Sen. Katie Muth (D-Chester/Montgomery/Berks) announced that 38 projects across Senate District 44 were awarded over $6.5 million in state grants through the statewide Local Share Account (LSA) program.

The projects, approved at a meeting of the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA), were funded through the LSA-Statewide program which distributes gaming revenues to support public interest projects across Pennsylvania.

“This LSA program funding delivers critical support to communities across the Commonwealth and right here in our district. This $6.5 million in grants for projects in Senate District 44 will help repair aging roads and bridges, upgrade stormwater and sewer systems, enhance emergency response capabilities, expand access to parks and trails, and modernize township facilities that residents rely on every day,” Muth said. “These resources reflect a commitment to meeting real community needs.  I have endless gratitude to our local first responders, municipal employees, and local government employees who continue to protect and advocate for our communities.”

The following SD44 projects received LSA grant awards:

Chester County:

  • Sadsbury Township received $511,563 to fund the replacement of Octorara Bridge.
  • Uwchlan Ambulance received $401,082 for the purchase of two new ambulances.
  • Thorndale Fire Company received $350,000 for the purchase of a new fire apparatus.
  • Schuylkill Township received $350,000 to make several renovations to the Township’s municipal complex.
  • East Coventry Township received $263,803 to fund repairs to the Ellis Woods Road Bridge that serves as an important connection between East Coventry Township and US422.
  • Honey Brook Fire Company No. 1 received $250,000 toward the purchase of a new fire apparatus.
  • North Coventry Township received $250,000 toward a project to replace the Laurelwood Road Bridge which sits on the border of North Coventry Township and South Coventry Township.
  • Goodwill Ambulance received $202,000 toward the purchase of a new EMS vehicle to be used in North Coventry Township.
  • Upper Uwchlan Township received $200,000 to make traffic signal improvements at 11 intersections near Newtown Richboro Rd. and Fir Dr.
  • Valley Forge Sewer Authority received $200,000 for the purchase of pump replacements for use in Schuylkill and East Pikeland Townships.
  • Wallace township received $200,000 for the installation of a pedestrian bridge over Indian Run to connect the Township’s existing trails to Springton Manor Farm.
  • Spring City Borough received $193,922 toward a project to make improvements to Boat Launch Park.
  • West Caln Township received $150,000 toward the purchase of a new heavy equipment loader for their public works department.
  • Caln Township received $142,763 for the purchase of two electric police vehicles.
  • West Vincent Township received $120,000 to purchase a compact loader and diesel-powered roller for use by the public works department.
  • West Pikeland Township received $118,727 for the purchase of a two new police vehicles.
  • South Coventry Township received $106,309 to replace 178 water meters for residents along PA Route 100 between Pughtown Road and PA Route 23.
  • Uwchlan Ambulance received $104,961 for the purchase of heart monitors and associated equipment.
  • East Pikeland Township received $100,000 for construction, engineering, and administrative costs related to extending the Valley Forge Sewer Authority public sewer to 13 residential properties.
  • Parkesburg Borough received $100,000 toward the purchase of a refuse truck and pickup truck for the borough.
  • Sadsbury Township received $100,000 toward the replacement of Compass Road Bridge.
  • East Whiteland Township received $100,000 to address pedestrian and vehicular accessibility and infrastructure at Down East Park.
  • West Brandywine Township Municipal Authority received $100,000 to repair deteriorating trunk line manholes.
  • North Coventry Township received $66,532 to purchase a new police vehicle with emergency equipment.
  • West Vincent Township Police Department received $64,490 for the purchase of a new patrol vehicle.
  • Uwchlan Township received $50,000 to make playground upgrades at Shamona Peck Park.
  • East Coventry Township received $48,078 to make upgrades to the HVAC system at the Township’s municipal building.
  • Liberty Steam Fire Engine Company No. 1 received $34,189 to make renovations to the fire company building located in Spring City Borough.
  • Uwchlan Township Police Department received $32,160 for the purchase of police body cameras.

Montgomery County

  • Schuylkill River Passenger Rail Authority received $406,575 to complete step 3 of the Federal Railroad Administration’s Corridor Identification and Development Program. This project will enable the project to restore passenger rail service between Reading and Philadelphia to advance to the final design and construction phases.
  • Upper Providence Township received $300,000 toward site preparation and engineering work for a new three-structure public works complex.
  • Lower Providence Township Sewer Authority received $300,000 to replace aging sections of sewer pipe and manhole covers on Mine Run.
  • Royersford Borough received $300,000 to upgrade and expand the Borough’s video surveillance infrastructure by installing high-resolution cameras and supporting equipment in critical locations.
  • Lower Providence Township received $49,245 for the purchase of a new electric pickup truck for use by the Township.

Berks County

  • Birdsboro Borough received $100,000 for the purchase of equipment for the public works department.
  • Caenarvon Township received $61,203 for the purchase of a CTA valve turning and vacuum excavation trailer.
  • Union Township received $41,487 to replace the existing rubber roof on the township building.
  • Birdsboro Borough received $30,320 for the purchase of four solar powered speed alert signs to help with police department enforcement.

The LSA-Statewide program is funded through distribution of gaming revenues to support projects in the public interest within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
