HARRISBURG, October 1, 2024 – State Senator Katie Muth (D-Chester/Montgomery/Berks), chair of the Pennsylvania Senate Democratic Policy Committee, will join Senator Wayne Fontana (D-Allegheny) to host a second public hearing this week on Pennsylvania’s property reassessment system.

The hearing will be held this Thursday, October 3 at 11 a.m. in Room 8E-A of the East Wing at the Pennsylvania State Capitol in Harrisburg. The hearing will also accommodate virtual participation and anyone interested in participating on Zoom can click here to register.

The hearing will feature two panels of testimony that will include the issues with Pennsylvania’s property reassessment system and included discussion on the impact reassessments have on municipalities, school districts, and real estate. The Policy Committee held a hearing in Pittsburgh in July that highlighted legislative solutions that would require regular, cyclical property reassessments.

Scheduled participants include Renee Reynolds, Director, State Tax Equalization Board; David Greene, Executive Director, Pennsylvania Local Government Commission; Dr. Jeffery Weber, researcher; Tim Shrom, Pennsylvania Association of School Business Officials; and Frank Mazza, County Commissioners Association of Pennsylvania.

The hearing will also be livestreamed at www.SenatorMuth.com/policy and www.Facebook.com/SenatorMuth.

Media participation is encouraged.
