Harrisburg – Sept. 19, 2019 – The Commonwealth Financing Authority has approved funding for the Alexander Drive Basin stormwater retrofit project in West Norriton.

“Ensuring that municipalities have improved and updated systems to handle stormwater runoff is paramount to protecting our local waterways,” said Sen. Katie Muth (D-Berks, Chester, Montgomery).“The funding awarded to the Alexander Drive Basin project will help West Norriton Township improve water quality in the Stony Creek watershed, protecting the waterway from being further damaged by increased sediment and storm sewer runoff.”

$164,774 was awarded to assist with the project that will upgrade the Alexander Drive Basin, which was constructed in the early 1980s. The basin will be retrofitted with a new stormwater basin that will decrease the amount of polluted water entering the Stony Creek watershed.

The funding was granted through the Commonwealth Financing Authority’s Act 13 Watershed Restoration and Protection Program.
