ROYERSFORD, January 15, 2026: State Sen. Katie Muth (D-Chester/Montgomery/Berks) announced that 15 projects across Senate District 44 were awarded over $3.6 million in state grants through the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources’ (DCNR) Community Conservation Partnerships Program (C2P2). The funding will help communities across Chester and Montgomery Counties improve parks and playgrounds, build and repair trails, conserve open space, and restore rivers and watersheds.

The local funding was part of an $82 million investment announced this week by DCNR to support more than 295 recreation and conservation projects across Pennsylvania.

“This $3.6 million allocation for SD44 projects will provide resources for our communities to make long-overdue improvements to parks and trails, expand access to outdoor recreation, and create safe, welcoming spaces for people of all ages to enjoy,” Muth said. “It is imperative that we keep investing our taxpayer dollars into projects that improve the quality of life for our residents and ensure that our natural resources are protected and accessible for generations to come.”

The following projects in SD44 in Chester County were awarded grant funding:

  • Caln Township received $472,500 for the development of the Beaver Creek Trail which will include the construction of approximately 0.25 miles of trail from Lloyd Park to Mary Street Field, stormwater management measures and a pedestrian bridge.
  • Schuylkill Township received $500,000 toward the acquisition of approximately 54 acres for passive recreation.
  • East Brandywine Township received $338,400 toward the acquisition of approximately 14.9 acres for passive recreation and water access.
  • East Coventry Township received $330,000 for the rehabilitation and further development of Towpath Park along the Schuylkill River. The project will include construction of a boat ramp, kayak launch, parking areas, and pedestrian walkways.
  • West Caln Township received $250,000 for further development of Layton Park. The project includes construction of pickleball courts, a dog park, pedestrian walkways and a parking area.
  • West Nantmeal Township received $250,000 for the renovation and further development of West Nantmeal Park. The project includes renovation of the parking area and the construction of pedestrian walkways, a pavilion and pickleball courts.
  • West Pikeland Township received $231,900 for the rehabilitation of Pine Creek Park. The project includes the renovation of the parking area and the installation of play equipment with required safety surfacing and stormwater management measures.
  • East Pikeland Township received $215,400 for the rehabilitation and further development of Ridge Road Park. The project includes the renovation of internal loop trail, construction of pedestrian walkways, and the installation of a community garden.
  • West Brandywine Township received $200,000 for the rehabilitation and further development of Cross Creek Park. The project includes the renovation of the parking area, the construction of an internal loop trail, pavilion and pedestrian walkways, and the installation of play equipment with required safety surfacing.
  • North Coventry Township received $119,900 for the rehabilitation of Kenilworth Park. The project includes renovation of pedestrian walkaways and the installation of play equipment with required safety surfacing.
  • French & Pickering Creeks Conservation Trust received $100,000 for the installation of approximately 18 acres of riparian forest buffers in the French Creek and Pickering Creek Watersheds.
  • Chester County received $65,000 for their Prepare a Tree Canopy Plan.
  • Uwchlan Township received $57,500 for the preparation of a Comprehensive Recreation, Park and Open Space Plan.

And the following projects in SD44 in Montgomery County received funding:

  • Upper Providence Township received $250,000 for the rehabilitation of MacFarlan Park. The project includes renovation of the pedestrian walkway and the installation of play equipment with required safety surfacing.
  • Lower Providence Township received $248,800 for the rehabilitation and further development of Redtail Park. The project includes construction of a pedestrian walkway and the installation of play equipment with required safety surfacing and fencing.
