ROYERSFORD January 28, 2025 − State Sen. Katie Muth (D-Chester/Montgomery/Berks) today announced that three projects in Senate District 44 have received over $345,000 in state funding through the Greenways, Trails, and Recreation Program.

The funding was approved this morning at a meeting of the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA).

“It is always great news when state funding comes back to our district to directly and positively impact the quality of life for our constituents. We need to continue to support programs that enhance our parks and recreation, improve accessibility, and make our communities safer for bicycles and pedestrians,” Muth said. “I am grateful that these communities continue to advocate on behalf of their residents, and I look forward to seeing these projects begin.”    

The following projects received grant funding in Chester County:

  • Parkesburg Borough received $168,074 to make ADA improvements to the playground and to make other updates to Minch Park.
  • East Vincent Township received $100,000 to make improvements to Independence Park.

The following project received grant funding in Montgomery County:

  • Upper Providence Township received $77,915 for a bicycle, pedestrian, and greenway planning project.

Act 13 of 2012 allocates a portion of the fee revenue from unconventional gas well impact fees to the Commonwealth Financing Authority for planning, acquisition, development, rehabilitation and repair of greenways, recreational trails, open space, parks and beautification projects using the Greenways, Trails, and Recreation Program.
