HARRISBURG, April 14, 2025: State Sen. Katie Muth (D-Chester/Montgomery/Berks) released the following statement regarding the arson that occurred at the Governor’s Residence in Harrisburg over the weekend.

“I am thankful that the Governor and his family were not injured when an individual set fire to the Governor’s Residence in Harrisburg this weekend.

Everyone deserves to live in a safe and healthy home.  Home can be a feeling, or a place that you own or rent, but when you’re at home you should feel safe.  No matter the size or location of your home, it should be a place where you and your family feel secure and protected.  Home is a place where you spend time with loved ones, friends, and pets.

No one should ever feel unsafe or threatened at their home.  Having your home attacked, invaded and damaged is an incredibly scary and traumatic experience.  My thoughts are with the Governor and his family as they recover from this horrific incident.

Thank you to all of the first responders for your quick response that ensured everyone’s safety. There is no place for hate or violence in our society — no matter your faith, your political views, how you look or who you love, this type of criminal act should never be tolerated.”
