HONEY BROOK, May 2, 2025: State Sen. Katie Muth (D-Chester/Montgomery/Berks) and state Rep. Dan Williams (D-Chester) joined leadership from Honey Brook Community Library, several local officials, and dozens of residents at a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the official reopening of the newly expanded library.

The Honey Brook Community Library expansion project, funded in part by a $1.14 million state grant announced in October 2022 by Senator Muth, nearly doubled the size of the library.

“Honey Brook Community Library was a wonderful place before the expansion because of the people that work here and the people that visit – now with the expansion, there is so much more space to grow, to expand programming, and to continue the positive impact that the library has on individuals and families across this part of Chester County,” Muth said. “The expansion of Honey Brook Community Library is exciting for our community and I really appreciate all of the work and coordination of everyone involved that made this a reality.”

The expansion project added more programming and community space, improved ventilation, and added additional dedicated learning space for children, teens, and adults.

“Libraries are more than a repository for books, they are the foundation of a successful community. That’s why I’m thrilled that we were able to acquire funding for the Honey Brook Library, doubling the space of the building, and providing more areas for activities and opportunities to learn for all ages,” Williams said. “This expanded space will not only create the means for lifelong learning, but also a community hub where lifelong friendships will be born.”

In addition to the state grant, the $1.8 million project also received support from Honey Brook Township and several library donors. The library began construction on the expansion project in April 2024.

“This is a great day for the Honey Brook Community Library and the community of Honey Brook.  I’m so happy that we have created such a warm, welcoming space for the community,” Honey Brook Community Library Director Jennifer Spade added. “I want to thank the library Board of Trustees, the staff, and our Friends of the Honey Brook Library group for all of the hard work they did to make this day possible.”

Other participants in the event included Chester County Commissioner Marian Moskowitz, Honey Brook Township Supervisor Salvatore DiGiacomo, and Honey Brook Community Library Board President Rocky Avvento.
