HARRISBURG, April 18, 2024 – In advance of a Senate Democratic Policy Committee hearing scheduled for May 10 on the challenges faced by owners of newly built homes, the Committee is seeking resident input through an online survey.

As a new homeowner or someone living in a newly constructed neighborhood, being a first-time homebuyer and owner can be a challenge. The Policy Committee is asking Pennsylvania residents who have moved into a newly constructed house within the past 10 years to complete a brief survey about their experiences as an owner of a newly constructed home in Pennsylvania.

The survey responses will remain anonymous and will only be used to help inform members of the Senate Democratic Caucus of the challenges being faced by so many Pennsylvanians who were sold on the promise of a newly constructed home only to deal with issues of poor workmanship and unreliable contractors after moving in.

The Policy Committee hearing will take place on Friday, May 10 at 11:00 a.m. at the Phoenixville Borough Building (351 Bridge St., Phoenixville). Senator Katie Muth (D-Chester/Montgomery/Berks), chair of the Senate Democratic Policy Committee, will co-host the hearing along with Senator Nikil Saval (D-Philadelphia) and Senator Wayne Fontana (D-Allegheny).

The public survey is available at bit.ly/SenDemPolicyHomeSurvey.
